DAY 2
Today we started off attending church at the Skalka church. We worshipped with the Czech people as they praised Jesus. It was so neat to see and hear the passion they have for the Lord. Even though we couldn't understand what they were saying we could hear their love for the Lord in the tone of their voice. Today the members of the church were voting on the new pastor for the Skalka church, as Mark Potma is going to be moving on to plant a different church on the south side of the city when they are back from home assignment this summer. Work on this building has already begun and we will be helping with it this week.
For lunch we went to a Chinese restaurant with the Potma kids. It was great to get to know them more. After lunch we went to the supermarket/mall by the place where we are staying and just kinda poked around. We had some time to kill before going to an evening church service at another one of the Potma's church plants. It was fun to see the different kinds of things their supermarket sells compared to ours. We went to a TESCO which is kind of like a Target back in the states. They had clothes, food, books, electronics etc. I also found a pet store which I thought was really neat. As some of you know Charles and I have a bunny, and at this pet store they had two bunnies, Rudolph and Ferdinand. It was neat to see them.
This evening we went to the South City church. The new church plant that the Potma's are working on. Half of this building is under construction, and half of it is done and usable. This is the room that they have their service in. The other large room that they want help with is going to be used as a multi purpose room for kid events etc. They want to get this done for a summer camp/VBS they are going to have in the middle of July. So we are going to try and get as much done as possible for them. They recently had cement poured for the floors and one of the workers forgot to fully shut off a water hose that they were using. This hose got filled with so much pressure that it burst and water flooded the space for two days while they thought the concrete was drying. This happened while we all were on flights to Prague. We will be washing the walls and filling large holes in the walls before we paint them. Also doing the same to the ceiling or moving to outside where they want to start prepping the outside of the building to be painted. We have our work cut out for us, but we are so happy and eager to help! Pray for safety as the walls are VERY high and we may or may not be using scaffolding to reach the top.
For dinner we were told that there was a food court in a mall not that far away. So we hopped on the metro (subway) and rode down a few stops. However after going to the food court and looking around we decided that we were in need of an adventure. We hit the streets to see what we could find! The boys with their phones found a delicious restaurant on Yelp, that had Czech food. It was amazing! Goulash, dumplings and pork, turkey meatloaf with potatoes YUM!
We are looking forward to what the Lord has in store for us tomorrow!
